If you can read this, it means it has been published; which makes me somehow happy because it means I'm back on writing reviews again! I will put the link below if I already publish the link of my full story on why I am so happy because I get back on writing my opinions again. It's a long story but I promise I will try my best to make it simple and fun to read ;)
So... The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. I know this will embarrass me so much, but the first reason why I bought the book that popped up in my mind was that I have heard about Kahlil Gibran before and little did I know he was a poet or writer. I, who have always been interested in poet, literature, and writing (but am never good enough at it) felt like the book could help me to enrich my knowledge and go through way deeper in poetry. So I bought the book. Trust me, I spent my last savings on it and did not regret anything because the book is not just great, it is... amazing.
The Prophet consists of prose poetry which was divided into 26 chapters. The prophet, Almustafa was going to depart with the ship but was stopped by a group of people who wanted to listen to his sermon about how to deal with love, marriage, self-knowledge, children and so many more. From the book that I read, the language used is not something that I see every day but I still can keep up with it. Besides, I feel entertained because I do not see or talk with the language styles used on daily basis. So I feel like I meet something new and feel educated at the same time.
Going deeper, the meaning of each chapter really hits you hard, because you can relate to most of them to your daily lives and it is, like, the book speaks to you and gives you advice like your parents or grandparents do. I, who felt down before (caused by personal reasons), felt much better when I read the book because I felt like there was someone--or something that understands me and teaches me about life better than anybody else has done before.

Above was one of my favorite chapters, on Marriage. The exhortation might be addressed for married couples, but I, who is currently in a relationship, can relate too to anything written here. We have gone through many problems such as being overprotective towards each other. And then this book just came into among us and it was, like, solving our problems with prose poetry. Kahlil Gibran, I thank you.
In my place where I live, I bought this at Books & Beyond located in Jakarta. The book was the last one that I picked up from the shelf and I did not know if they had restocked them or not. I have found some of it which were sold online as e-books or hardcopy, you can just easily google it and there you go.
Lastly, I would rate this book 8/10 because it is that good. It might be heavy to read for some people but by reading this you can also help expand your vocabularies and increase your English skill. You will be introduced to new language styles that you do not see that often on a daily basis. Besides, this book has some killer advice, doesn't it?
Please do let me know if you have also read the book! I would love to hearing from you of those who read or has been reading this blog. Thank you x
